Luxury Recruitment

Specialist recruitment for luxury brands, from store and boutique teams to head office and executive leadership, across the UK and internationally.

Luxury is a people business before it’s a product business. What a customer remembers is rarely the product alone, it’s how they were made to feel, and that comes down to who a brand hires. Zachary Daniels recruits for luxury brands at every level, from store and boutique teams to head office and executive leadership, across the UK and internationally.

Luxury Recruitment Across Every Function

A luxury brand’s reputation is built by more than the people on the shop floor. The buyer who chooses the range, the finance manager who signs off a new boutique, the HR lead who protects culture through fast growth, and the marketing team who shape how a brand is seen, all influence whether a customer chooses that brand again. Get any one of these wrong and it shows, eventually, in the customer experience.

Zachary Daniels recruits across the whole of a luxury business, not only Retail Operations. Some clients come to us for a single confidential appointment, others use us across several teams as they grow. Either way, we start the same way: understand the brand, the culture and what success looks like, then find the right people quietly and properly.

What makes recruiting for luxury different?

Luxury recruitment isn’t retail recruitment with better vocabulary. Here’s what specifically changes how we search, assess and present candidates.

Concessions management recruitment for retail clients

Customer-facing people represent the brand every time they interact with a client, so cultural fit matters as much as CV fit. A person who fits one luxury house may not naturally suit another, even in a similar role. Brands are also at different stages: a long-established heritage house protecting its archive needs a different kind of leader to a founder-led label trying to professionalise fast, so we ask what stage a brand is at before assuming what “the right person” looks like.

Clienteling and long-term customer relationships

Luxury sales is often a relationship, not a single transaction. The best people in these roles remember a client’s recent purchases, know when something they’ll want is landing, and build genuine repeat business. For senior sales and store leadership roles, we look for evidence of that kind of relationship management, not just conversion figures.

Product knowledge and brand storytelling

Whether it’s explaining a watch movement, a fragrance family, or why a heritage archive matters commercially, product knowledge is often what separates someone who can sell luxury from someone who can only sell.

Commercial performance without compromising the customer experience

Luxury brands still have targets, margins and stock to move, and the strongest luxury operators hit commercial numbers without turning the customer experience transactional. That’s a genuine tension, and part of what we assess for at store leadership and buying and merchandising level in particular.

Discretion, international reach and specialist requirements

Some luxury hiring needs to stay confidential, such as a leadership succession or a VIC and VVIP-facing appointment. Where a search needs to remain confidential, we can manage the process discreetly from the first conversation through to appointment. Many luxury brands also trade internationally or serve international clients from a single flagship, so where a role needs a second language or cross-market experience, we factor that in from the outset.

None of this means every luxury role needs every one of these qualities. A stockroom hire and a UK Managing Director search have almost nothing in common except the word luxury. What matters is that we ask the right questions for the specific role, brand, customer and market, rather than applying one template to all of them.

Hiring talent for a luxury brand

Every luxury hire starts with a conversation, not a job description. We want to understand the brand’s position in the market, who the brand’s customer is, what the culture is like day to day, and what success looks like in this role in six months.

  • Critical individual appointments – a single hire where getting it right matters more than filling it fast.
  • Boutique and concession openings – a team appointed and ready ahead of opening.
  • Head office team builds – growing a function such as merchandising or ecommerce from one hire to a full team.
  • Leadership succession – planning ahead for when a senior leader moves on, often confidentially.
  • International expansion – recruiting a team, or a market lead, ahead of entering a new territory.
  • Confidential executive search – a discreet, retained search for a senior or board-level appointment.
  • Multi-role recruitment projects – several roles across one or more functions, run as one coordinated project.

The strongest luxury candidates are often not actively job hunting, so proactive, direct approaches matter as much as our own network. We’d rather bring you a shortlist of three people who are a genuine fit than a long list of people who technically meet the brief.

We’ll recommend the approach that best fits the role, timescale and level of confidentiality, whether that means permanent recruitment, retained search, executive search or proactive talent finding.

Luxury markets we understand

Luxury isn’t only fashion. We recruit across several luxury markets, and the kind of person right for one isn’t automatically right for another.

  • Luxury fashion and accessories – ready-to-wear, leather goods and accessories, where product cycles move fast and brand storytelling changes season to season.
  • Jewellery and watches – often the longest sales cycle and highest average transaction value in luxury retail, where product knowledge and client relationships matter more than volume.
  • Beauty, fragrance and cosmetics – high footfall and fast-moving product knowledge, with a customer experience built on trial and expertise rather than one large purchase.
  • Premium lifestyle and home – interiors, homeware and lifestyle brands where craftsmanship and provenance matter as much as design.

We also recruit for department stores, where a candidate represents several luxury houses within one role, heritage brands, where protecting what a brand has always stood for matters as much as growth, and founder-led and emerging luxury brands building their first proper head office or store teams.

Where a market isn’t listed here, ask us. Many of the skills that make someone right for one luxury market transfer to others, and we’ll always be honest if a brief sits outside what we genuinely cover.

Looking for your next role in luxury?

If you’re weighing up a move within luxury, or into it from a premium or mainstream background, we’re happy to have a confidential conversation before there’s even a specific role on the table. A good move isn’t only about the next job title, it’s about whether the brand, the customer and the culture are genuinely right for you.

  • Brand, product and customer – do you believe in the product and the brand? And is the customer profile, from a younger digital-first shopper to an established VIC client base, one you understand and enjoy working with?
  • Culture and leadership – who you’d report to matters as much as the brand name on the door.
  • Reward and progression – understand the whole package, not just the headline salary. Base, bonus and commission structures vary a lot across luxury, and it’s worth being clear whether this role is a genuine step up.
  • Location and international opportunity – flagship, regional or head office based, whether travel is expected, and whether there’s a genuine route to working abroad if that matters to you.
  • Long-term career value – what this move does for the next one, not just this one.

We’ll talk this through honestly, including telling you if we don’t think a role is right for you. We’d rather have that conversation now than see you move for the wrong reasons.

Moving from premium retail into luxury can be a realistic route where someone’s customer approach, product knowledge and commercial experience transfer. We can talk you through what that move would genuinely look like.
