As a Business Director at Zachary Daniels, my job is all about building great relationships with both candidates and clients, whilst staying close to the market I recruit within.

I don’t enjoy transactional recruitment, where you just match a job description to a CV. I love getting to know people. So day-to-day you’ll find me meeting people in person over coffee or doing Zooms or telephone meetings with candidates and clients. Those connections then allow me to introduce great talent to my network.

While I have a passion for retail, we’re sector agnostic and I typically specialise in e-commerce, Digital and Marketing. I recruit across all levels nationwide, including director level, which I love because that’s probably where my network leans, but I also really enjoy helping somebody first starting out in their career.

Being a people person really matters in this job. I genuinely care about building great relationships, making the right connections and doing the right thing by people. It helps that I’m also very interested in the space that I recruit within.

I started out in retail, working with John Lewis and then Liz Earle Beauty. Whilst I loved my time with Liz Earle, I was away from home a lot travelling around the country and felt I needed a change. I chose to move into retail recruitment as it allowed me to connect the two things I most enjoyed – retail and relationships.

I joined Zachary Daniels because it very much stood out in the market. It wasn’t a big, soulless corporate beast. The way ZD approached the market was far more meaningful and it gave me the opportunity to work with people I really respected and admired. Years later, it still does.

Outside of work, I love the outdoors, so whenever we can, my partner, our little boy and my dog will head up to the Lake District. My partner is a golf pro, so by default, that means a lot of my spare time is also at the driving range!
